Interchange

$100.00

One of the most traditional pieces in my body of work, a rectangle with no assemblage elements, is a fairly straightforward interpretation of a highway interchange, using red and yellow gradients to indicate traffic flow. Though much of my community organizing work calls out highways as disruptive, greedy things that take up land that could be put to higher and better use, at the same time, I have always thought the geometry of the curves that make up highway interchanges are beautiful. I feel about this painting the way someone might about a horror movie, you wouldn't want it in your neighborhood but you enjoy the aesthetic.

Acrylic paint, plywood, polyurethane. 12x15”
